For one project, entitled 'Curiosities', I made a series of models of trilobites out of plasticine. I cast these in wax and plaster and they were moderately interesting.
I then pulled the plasticine models apart. I had in front of me a pile of plasticine fragments of a whole variety of different shapes and sizes.
Four of them appealed to me and I did a series of drawings of these, from which I then did a series of linocuts (above).
One piece appealed to me in particular, and I did several drawings of this, from which I made a hard ground etching (shown on the right).
I then drew this single piece of plasticine from several angles and superimposed the drawings on each other to create the abstracts below:

Finally I made a plasticine maquette of the object, but only from my drawings and prints. This is the bronze sculpture that I cast from the maquette.
